Stages are a common item that are used at an event to provide a raised space for speakers, performers or maybe even a head table.
- Stages come in many sizes. They primarily are made using 4’ x 4’ and 4’ x 8’ decks which mean that they can be made into almost any size you require. (Triangle and round pieces are also available)
- Once you have your stage you need to decide how high you want it. Stages with fixed height legs usually start at 8” and go up from there. 12”, 16”, 24”, 32” and 40”. Stages with variable height legs can be made to be any height, but what can also determine height is what height skirts are available to surround your stage. Skirts are usually made to fit stages using fixed leg heights.
- Next you need to think about how people are going to get on and off your stage. For example an 8” stage does not require a step but could require an accessibility ramp. You need to consider if people need a ramp to get onto your stage either by walking or using a wheelchair. (no matter the height of your stage) A stage higher than 8” also requires a set of stairs. For example for a 16” stage you will need to consider a single step (8”) or a two step (16”)
- Next you need to think about railings. Do you need railings for your steps or stairs or ramp? People often require something to hold onto as they walk up the steps or ramps.
